The Bishopgate area of the Berkshire town of Royal Windsor once had a racecourse which operated for just the one year in 1783. It held its only two day meeting on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th August 1783. The first day card opened with a Handicap which was won by Mr Green’s brother to Laburnum, while the Sweepstake which followed went to Mignionette for Mr Brooks. On the Saturday the day opened with a Sweepstake once round the course and after a competitive race Miss Cromwell got the better of Quartetto and Captain De Champreux’s Godolphin colt. The principal race, a Sweepstake twice round, was won by Mignionette, while the day finished with two matches. |
